Made You Look is a newly debuted duo under Sony Music Entertainment New Zealand. Consisting of drummer and producer Shelton Woolright and vocalist and producer Alex Thompson, the pair have a meaningful history that they are ready to share on an international scale.

problem
They launched with four singles just before festival season, which is a time of fierce competition. To break through the noise, the challenge was to establish a fresh and bold brand identity that introduced the band and sustained interest throughout their career.

process
The branding and merchandise required a series of developments, as it was a style I had yet to explore before. I found the inclusion of bold colours to be highly inspiring for the designs, and they had a strong impact on attracting the audience’s attention.

As a team, we worked together using Discord meetings and Figma documentation to develop the project with a great level of communication. This supported the development of the 360° 3D studio room, which was built in Blender and developed using Three.js to allow fans to explore the space interactively on a live website.

outcome
The core idea was to build a digital experience that drew fans into the world of Made You Look. This included a fully interactive 3D studio apartment featuring hidden items that tell their story, promote their discography, and link to other pages.

Every object in the space revealed a part of the band’s identity, like the boxing gloves, which shared the story of how the pair met. The more users explored, the more they uncovered, encouraging repeat visits as content was updated. Users can rotate the view, zoom in and out, and click on objects to reveal content. Designed to work on mobile and desktop, the interface was kept intuitive so users could navigate and stay interested.

To inspire and attract everyday aspiring young adults to become dedicated followers of Made You Look, we are going to be harnessing the feeling of relatability through street posters. Using the most relatable lyrics within Made You Look’s music, we will cause a stir of thought and conversation, as well as a sense of intrigue.

To create hype around the release of the single “Sweater”, we plan to produce a limited edition Break-up Sweater that will be the fans’ go-to comfort item when going through heartbreak. For promotion, there is a social media reel series showing young adults answering the question of what they would say to their ex if they had the opportunity.

The design focused on building a strong visual identity that matched the band’s edgy aesthetic. A moody colour palette with vibrant glows helped create an atmosphere that reflected the tone of their music. This extended into the lighting, which gave the space a cinematic feel, with each corner styled to reflect the Made You Look brand.

impact
Sony Music and the artists praised the concept for its unique approach, strong atmosphere, and polished execution. Feedback highlighted the room’s lighting, hidden objects, and the ability to adjust the space. They also appreciated how the concept could grow with the band, suggesting updates to keep fans engaged long-term.
If officially launched, the website would offer a flexible and engaging platform that grows with the band. Its interactive features and adaptable design would give Made You Look a unique digital space to support new releases, promote tours, and build a loyal fanbase.
